While at the CDC, I led the innovative "StairWELL Project" which has now become a Best Practice. The StairWELL to Health is a great story about how environmental modifications can lead to increased physical activity. The project was extremely creative in its design and delivery. Log onto to the CDC website for a step-by-step account of this project. As a result, you'll not only see what happened with the CDC, but you'll have a blueprint to help your company get started as well.
Additionally, I directed the The Personal Energy Plan or PEP. This is a 12-week self-directed, worksite program to promote healthy eating and moderate physical activity. The program materials include workbooks for healthy eating and physical activity targeting employees based on their readiness to change. A coordinator’s kit, promotional brochures, and posters are also included in the program. It is currently being distributed by the Cooper Institute.
I am currently working with the State of Hawaii Department of Health and other state agencies in implementing a worksite wellness program for their employees.
